Coastal House
A holiday house oriented to the wind
A single-storey holiday house in Bodrum that draws the prevailing north wind into its courtyard and cuts the midday sun with deep eaves.
Place and climate
The design began with a year-long sun and wind study on site. The massing is oriented to shield the afternoon western sun while admitting low winter sun.
Materials
Local stone, light render and high-thermal-mass slabs store the night's coolness and release it during the day.
