A neighbourhood centred on its stream
A 42-hectare walkable mixed-use neighbourhood in Kocaeli that keeps the stream bed as a public park.
Place and climate
The design began with a year-long sun and wind study on site. The massing is oriented to shield the afternoon western sun while admitting low winter sun.
Materials
Local stone, light render and high-thermal-mass slabs store the night's coolness and release it during the day.
